Merit-Based Academic Scholarships

VIST offers the academic-merit scholarships to qualified students. The academic-merit scholarship will be used to pay the portion of the student’s tuition and fees. The qualification of academic-merit scholarships are described as follows:

A.    President Scholarship of $5,000.00 in total ($2,500 per year for 2 years):

i. Bachelor’s degree in computer science and IT field

ii. GPA is 3.90 on the 4.0 scale. or grades of straight-A in 4 years.

iii. Valid GRE Score:  160 in Quantitative and verbal reasoning, with a 5.5 in Analytical writing. 

iv. No criminal record or illegal behavior.

v. $5,000 USD that will split to the entire program – it is $5,000 USD divided

by terms of completion of the program.

vi. Must keep GPA 4.00 or above during studying at VIST. Otherwise, the scholarship will be terminated.

B.    Dean Scholarship of $3,000 ($1,500 per year for 2 years)

i. Bachelor’s degree in computer science and IT field

ii. GPA is 3.75 on the 4.0 scale. or grades of straight-A in 4 years.

iii. Valid GRE Score:  155 in Quantitative and verbal reasoning, with a 5.0 in Analytical writing. 

iv. No criminal record or illegal behavior.

v. $3,000 USD that will split to the entire program – it is $3,000 USD divided by terms (semesters) of completion of the program.

vi. Must keep GPA 3.85 or above during studying at VIST. Otherwise, the scholarship will be terminated.

C.   Teaching Assistant Scholarship:

i. Students who have completed at least two (2) terms at VIST with a CGPA of

4.0 are eligible to apply for the Teaching Assistant (TA) Scholarship. 

ii. No criminal record or illegal behavior, AND no outstanding tuition balance.

iii. Typically, each eligible student in the master’s program is assigned as TA for one course and one term, unless there are specific requirements necessitating otherwise.

iv. Prior to the commencement of the assigned course, All TAs are required to participate in TA training. That is mandatory requirement.

v. The TA must arrive campus /or login (if hybrid mod) 15 minutes before each class session begins and notify the professor of their presence, indicating readiness to assist. The professor will endorse each TA’s attendance and evaluate their performance throughout the term. Upon completion of the term, The TA must submit a timesheet to the Finance Office, documenting their working hours with the professor’s approval.

D.  Student Services Scholarship:

i. Students who have completed at least two (2) terms at VSUT with a CGPA of

3.85 are eligible to apply for the Student Service (SS) Scholarship. 

ii. No criminal record or illegal behavior, AND no outstanding tuition balance.

iii. Typically, each eligible student (assigned as SS)would have a reliable car with valid DMV driver license or any other state driver license.

iv. SS must be reliable.

v. Typically, each eligible student in the master’s program is assigned as SS for one term, unless there are specific requirements necessitating otherwise

vi. The SS must do what Director of Student Services (DSS) assigned to him/her, such airport pickup, help finding accommodation, front desk, Administration Assistant, etc.  Upon completion of the term, The SS must submit a timesheet to the Finance Office, documenting their working hours with the DSS’ approval.
